A critical gap in the UK Space Agency’s launch strategy is the availability of UK launch systems to ensure that the industrial and economic value of launch activity lands in the UK aerospace and space economy. Orbital Access Limited was formed to fill this gap.
The project involved forming multi-disciplinary team of UK space and aerospace companies with leading space system academics to define system architecture and set out a concerted and structured development programme. Securing seed investment and grant funding from the UK Space Agency initial feasibility studies were performed leading to follow-on contracts from the European Space Agency to complete analysis in preparation for the next development stages. Creating such a strategic aerospace venture from scratch has drawn on TBDs wide aerospace network and reflects its capability to take on the most challenging corporate and commercial objectives.
